Error messages WhatsApp Business

Are you receiving an error message when installing or using your WhatsApp Business account? Here you will find an overview of the most common error messages and issues with WhatsApp (Business) and the solutions.

Error message 1. Incorrect phone number

After downloading WhatsApp Business, you need to link a phone number to your account. Are you trying to verify your phone number but getting an error message that your number is invalid? Unfortunately, there is little you can do about it. What WhatsApp recommends you do in this case is to send an email to [email protected]. Here you should include your phone number in international format (+31 ) and describe your problem.

Error message 2. Suspended account

If you can no longer log in to your WhatsApp (Business) account or receive an error message with the text “Your phone number is banned from using WhatsApp. Contact support for help.” then your account is blocked. WhatsApp can decide to block your account for multiple reasons, but it often comes down to violating the terms of service.

Do you feel that you have been suspended unfairly? Then WhatsApp recommends that you contact them via email at [email protected].

To prevent your account from being (re)blocked, it is wise to pay attention to the following things:

  1. Use the official version of WhatsApp Business. This can be found in the Google Play Store and the App Store, or downloaded via links on the official WhatsApp site;
  2. Save the numbers of the people you contact in your mobile phone's address book and do not add people to a WhatsApp group without their consent;
  3. Do not send promotional messages to unknown numbers and do not add unknown numbers to a (promotional) group;
  4. Adhere to the terms of service.

Error message 3. Incorrect timestamp on messages

Does the incoming messages show a completely different time than the messages you send yourself? It may be that the displayed time for incoming messages and the 'last seen' time of contacts is incorrect. Fortunately, this is easy to fix.

Go to your mobile phone's settings and check the set time and time zone. One of these time settings is probably set incorrectly and can be adjusted. Set your date and time to 'automatic' or 'provided by network'. This way, you don't have to set times and dates yourself, but your mobile provider does this for you.

Would you prefer to configure your time zone manually? Then go to your mobile phone's settings and then to the general settings. Under 'date and time', you can now correct your time zone.

Error message 4. 088 phone number does not work

WhatsApp was created as a private messaging service for family and friends. For that reason, you can only use a mobile number when creating a WhatsApp account. With WhatsApp Business, the business version of WhatsApp, you can use your business phone number. A major advantage for companies, as you only need to communicate one phone number to your customers! This also allows you to install and use WhatsApp and WhatsApp Business on the same device.

Error message 5. "Spam Rate limit hit"

Are you seeing this message on WhatsApp and don't want to send a message? There are sometimes restrictions on the number of messages that can be sent from a phone number. This may be because too many messages you previously sent were blocked by recipients, or that the messages were reported as spam. Do you want to know how your limit is? If your WhatsApp Business account is linked to your Facebook account, you can see the quality of your status in WhatsApp Manager.
